Remarkably, Aloïs D. also robbed his 87-year-old wife of life in September 2021, in their home in Oostrozebeke. The suspect was arrested by the Kortrijk investigating judge on suspicion of murder. In August 2022, however, the Ghent Chamber of Accusation (KI) decided that he could leave the prison under certain conditions. The suspect was allowed to stay in a residential care center in Dentergem in anticipation of a possible assize process.
However, the judicial investigation then showed that Aloïs suffers from a mental disorder. Moreover, there was a danger that he would again commit facts. That is why the public prosecutor decided to internal man. In the meantime, Aloïs was allowed to live in the retirement home. So things went wrong there in February.
