The circumstances of the mysterious deaths of Oscar winner Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa are largely clarified. In Hackman’s official vita it is now said that he would have died “probably” on February 18, 2025 in Santa Fe in the US state of New Mexico. A cardiovascular failure is difficult by its Alzheimer’s disease. Arakawa, a classic pianist, succumbed to an aggressive Hentavirus infection a few days later.
However, the drama about the tragic circumstances does not seem to end. Now Betsy’s mother Yoshie Feather is defending himself against the disclosure of the case. Especially against the publication of the recordings of the police cameras that arose in the investigation of the deaths.
She says the public spectacle and the large media reporting were extremely traumatizing. She would have a right to say goodbye in peace. In addition, the two deceased would have always been extremely important to their privacy.
Image recordings of the corpses “Blurred”
So far, it was stored in the legal documents that the photos of the corpses must remain sealed. The official autopsy and toxicology report may only be published in detail if there are no pictures.
Now a judge Matthew Wilson has that image shots of the corpses “blurred”, that is, to be blurred. Everything else, such as photos of the dog, who also died or an exterior view of the Hackman property, would be allowed.
But the mother also defends himself against it. She argues that she has a “constitutional right to see no pictures of my daughter’s apartment, her body, her husband’s body and the body of her dog” … she also wants to prevent any publication of the police camera shots such as the autopsy reports.
In the US gossip press, reference is made to applications from the TV station CBS and the news agency Associated Press, which require the broadest possible opening of the film material. And be it for “research purposes”.
The local police had previously released Bodycam material from officials who were on site. However, this video only contained recordings outside the house; including talks with the caretaker and one of Hackman’s children.
