Two racing weekends in Formula 1 are in the books. Lewis Hamilton has already been able to record a little success for himself – and thus sent a first sign to his teammate Charles Leclerc, says ex -pilot Ralf Schumacher.
It was the big consolation for the Scuderia in the second season race of Formula 1: Before the Grand Prix became a qualification disaster, Ferrari in Schanghai was able to cheer for a first victory by newcomer Lewis Hamilton. Surprisingly, he had initially left the Formula 1 competition in sprint qualifying, then he even achieved the sprint victory.
Charles Leclerc only saw the taillights of his team -mate in both sessions. Started in the sprint from fourth place, he ultimately had to be satisfied with fifth place. “He did a good, solid job,” praised the former racing driver and today’s TV expert Ralf Schumacher in an interview with the record world champion Lewis Hamilton.
The 49-year-old added: “Charles Leclerc has become awake. I think that was very annoyed.”
Can Hamilton hold the speed?
The duel between the two Ferrari alpha was expected with great excitement before the season. There is no clear hierarchy in the Red team.
Hamilton has already caught “from day one” very well with the Ferrari. According to Ralf Schumacher, the victory in the China Sprint also shows: “I am pleased, because it proves that he still has the speed. This is always a thing that you question with the age. The question is now: Can he hold that?”
The next stop in Formula 1 is Japan. In Suzuka, Ferrari will have to watch not to make the distance to the competition larger. Started as a World Cup favorite, McLaren has already 61 points ahead of the Italians in the design classification.
