From the trail to the slopes: After her end of the season, the German biathlete Franziska Preuss suddenly appeared in the ski jumping in Planica.
The ski jumper celebrated the end of the season in Planica on Sunday. The Slovenian Anze Lanisek won the World Cup final with his flights. And his teammate Domen Prevc even cracked the world record. In addition, DSV-Adler Andreas Wellinger flew to the podium (more about the “incredible” ski jumping day can be read here).
But in addition to the vastness, a German winter sports star, who suddenly appeared in the audience: Franziska Preuss. The biathlete and overall World Cup winner of the season just expired watched and was also seen in an interview with DSV sports director Horst Hüttel.
Preuss recently spoke of her vacation in Thailand, so she changed her mind or how did the visit come about? Preuss said in the ARD: “The idea came a little when we landed from Oslo and the ski jumpers met at the airport. They told us that the final was in Planica.”
Then she explained: “We looked and it was not that far from Ruhpolding and then we started and wanted to experience it because it is something else.” The best biathlete of the season said appreciatively: “Really super impressive.”
The biathlon ace would certainly not have thought that she was allowed to experience a world record. “Really cool to see which speed they shoot down there. Really Mega interesting. Sometimes nice to experience a sports event as a spectator,” she confessed after her own strenuous season.
Has she already recovered from this? “I was really broken, the week was a lot going on and leisure stress. We are going on vacation now and it sinks down.” So it still goes into the sun with her partner Simon Schempp.
