95 refugees from overcrowded Ter Apel accommodated in hotel Haarlemmermeer

A hotel in Haarlemmermeer recently offers space for a total of 95 refugees from the overcrowded registration center in Ter Apel. A spokesperson for the municipality of Haarlemmermeer has just confirmed this.

Where 80 refugees were discussed this weekend, a hotel currently offers room for 95 people. The spokesperson does not specify the name and location of the hotel.

Hospitable hoteliers

Haarlemmermeer is, after Amsterdam, the municipality with the most hotel beds in the Netherlands, so the hotels are used more often in times of emergency. Thus there were earlier 600 refugees from Ukraine and hoteliers were willing to make rooms available for corona patients

Ter Apel

There has been a structural shortage of reception places in the Netherlands for months. The registration center in Groningen is overcrowded. In order to relieve the burden, municipalities have been asked to arrange extra reception places. Other places in the Netherlands that contribute are Wormer, Geleen and Ommen.
