8106 new corona cases in Berlin – Pankow remains a hotspot

The corona incidence in Berlin has only increased slightly. The reading was 1087.4 on Friday, according to the Senate situation report. 24 hours earlier the incidence was 1061.1.

The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the past seven days.

In the past seven days, the number of registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Berlin had fluctuated steadily around 1,000.

Berlin continues to have the second lowest value of all federal states after Hamburg and is well below the national average of 1756.4.

8106 new corona infections (previous day: 9018) were registered in Berlin on Friday. The total number is 875,582. There were nine other deaths. 4,346 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the disease caused by the pathogen.

But not all cases count anymore

The federal government’s new test strategy has been in effect since February 12. The following applies: Anyone who wants to have a free PCR test done can only do so if an antigen rapid test previously carried out by a test center was positive.

Anyone who has a red warning in the Corona-Warn-App or has carried out a test with a positive result at home is no longer entitled to a free PCR test. But only PCR tests are included in the statistics.

The situation in the districts

All counties submitted new cases on Friday. Most new infections were registered in Pankow (+1268) and in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (+746), the fewest in Lichtenberg (+455) and in Mitte (+397).

► With the seven-day incidence, nine districts are above the 1000 mark. Hotspot is now Pankow with 1464.9, followed by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (1256.8) and Tempelhof-Schoeneberg (1177.9).

Lichtenberg continues to have the lowest incidence with 628.8, followed by Spandau with 948.3.

The status of vaccinations

77.6 percent (previous day: 77.6) of Berliners have been vaccinated at least once. 73.4 percent (previous day: 73.4) have the basic immunization or are fully vaccinated. 59.2 percent (previous day: 59.2) have received a booster vaccination or have been boosted.

The Corona traffic light

In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.

According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 1087.4 (previous day: 1061.11) – the traffic light is RED.

The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 19.2 (previous day: 20.9) – the traffic light is RED.

This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.

The occupancy of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 8.8 percent (previous day: 9.6 percent) – the traffic light is YELLOW.

The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
