It is Thursday afternoon, October 2, when a 77-year-old woman from Gilze has a man on the phone who says he is from her bank. She transfers a total of more than a thousand euros. Bureau Brabant shows how a young man later rings her doorbell and runs off with her jewelry.
The woman’s bank account is said to be in danger. The man keeps calling and also says that her jewelry needs to be secured. The man wins her trust.
Receives a reporting code
She receives a ‘reporting code’ and transfers money again. Supposedly to catch the scammers. Someone also comes to her home to pick up her jewelry.
CCTV footage shows a young man ringing her doorbell on Sunday morning, October 5, and stating the reporting code. He introduces himself as ‘Sander de Jong, police employee’.
Provide a box of jewelry
The woman gives a box of jewelry containing necklaces, bracelets, watches and rings. The so-called Sander says he will return two hours later, but the woman never saw him again.
The question is who this young man is. His face has been deliberately made unrecognizable in the video, because he may be underage. If he does not report, his face will later be shared in a recognizable manner.
He was wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers that day. He also has light skin and short dark hair.
