If winter slowly says goodbye, but the temperatures are still too inconsistent for summer fashion, transition jackets are used. They accompany us reliably from the end of February to June and then again from September until it gets too cold in November. Which jackets are particularly popular this season – an overview.
All-round classic and long-running favorite: trench and jeans
The trench coat is one of the most popular transition jackets and a real fashion classic. “It fits almost everything, whether a jeans look or business outfit,” explains style consultant Dunja Heß. Characteristic of the trench coat are the double -row cut, shoulder flaps and a waist belt. Its light, weather -resistant material makes it perfect for changeable spring weather. It is an investment for many years, especially in neutral colors such as beige or sand.
Another must-have is the denim jacket. “Every year it is suitable as a transition jacket, whereby the cuts always change slightly,” said the expert. This season, oversized variants, i.e. wide-cut, loose models are particularly trendy, often made of softer, thinner denim. The denim jacket can be combined particularly well with spring dresses, T-shirts or light sweaters.
Casual in leather and aviation blouson
Leather jackets are also an integral part of this spring from an indispensable wardrobe. From biker styles with striking buttons to aviator jackets with woolen collar, everything is there this year, according to style consultant Dunja Hess.

Aviation blousons or ‘bomber jackets’ – loosely cut and with ribbed bundes – also experience a comeback. “They are often kept in khakit tones and fit the trendy oversized look,” says Dunja Heß. In addition to classic colors such as black or olive, pastel variants are particularly in demand this year. Combined with sneakers and loose jeans, the bomber jacket ensures a modern street style.
Elegant about short or long: bouclé and wool
So-called Bouclé jackets are reminiscent of the classic Chanel style this season with their woven fabric. “They look particularly elegant and are well suited for business looks or to upgrade a simple jeans outfit,” explains Hess. These jackets are often cut shorter and match high-waw pants or skirts. They look stylish and feminine, especially in pastel colors or cream tones.

Even lighter wool coats are suitable for the first transition to spring because they are a little warmer. In trend, coats made of wool are currently in earthy colors. They look particularly elegant in colors such as mocha mousse, beige or cream.
Bright tones instead of patterns
“You can hardly see patterns, at most caros with blazers,” explains Heß. Pastel tones such as rosé or lilac as well as bright brown tones such as mocha mousse and beige are particularly popular. “A light olive green is also popular this year,” said the expert.
