6 to 12 year olds prefer to watch Gijp

The Wendy van Dijk show Ministars remains a huge flop. Only when the presenter and her singing children disappear from view do the youngest viewers come on board. For René van der Gijp.

It remains a shame for Wendy van Dijk that her Ministars show scores so badly on Friday night on SBS 6. The fourth episode last night did not exceed 386 thousand viewers and 8 percent market share. And that while Today Inside scored well immediately afterwards with an audience of 744 thousand viewers (18 percent).

Bizarre but true

What viewing figure connoisseur Tina Nijkamp thinks is the craziest thing? TV viewers aged 6 to 12 don’t get on board until Wendy and her singing children are out of the picture. “I think the most remarkable thing about the viewing figures is that the three over-50 men of VI score higher than a talent show for children: Ministars.”

Ministars has a market share of 22 percent among 6 to 12-year-olds, while VI reaches 28 percent. “I did some further research and VI also scores much higher than, for example, the talent show Op Search Naar, which only scores 7 percent among children. VI is also the winner of the time slot in this target group. Bizarre but true.”

And what about Chantal?

Chantal Janzen also keeps muddling through a bit. The presenter, who has been waiting for years for a real viewing hit, reached 740 thousand viewers (15 percent) yesterday with Chantal’s Pajama Party. Since the program attracts few older viewers, the total scores are a bit disappointing. Or, as Tina puts it: ‘Very disappointing’.

She says: “The program hangs around 750 thousand viewers and is also postponed by less than 100 thousand viewers. It does score well in the target group aged 20 to 54: 23 percent. Will there be another season? I think questionable. Also because the content is just too much about ‘chaos and laughter’. Perhaps a bit too old-fashioned.”

Winfried on one

With 1.1 million viewers (23 percent) on NPO 2, the fourth and final episode of the docuseries Het Water Laat was the big winner in prime time. This is followed by VI, Chantal and Op Search Naar.

Nieuwsuur also did well with 639 thousand viewers (14 percent). The talk show Veronica Offside was good for 332 thousand viewers (7 percent).
