Many people train to take part in a marathon at some point. A 55-year-old completed one a day in 2024.

The Belgian Hilde Dosogne achieved an impressive success. The 55-year-old completed a marathon every single day in 2024. She made her final run on New Year’s Eve in the city of Ghent, where hundreds of fans cheered her on.

But behind the many marathons there is not just fun, but also a good cause. Dosogne’s project raised money for breast cancer research. Around 66,000 euros were raised.

The total distance they traveled last year was more than 15,400 kilometers. For comparison: From Frankfurt am Main to Beijing (China) it is around 7,800 kilometers as the crow flies, so the 55-year-old walked almost twice as long. This also resulted in a lot of wear and tear: Dosogne needed a total of 22 pairs of running shoes for her runs.
