On Graswijk near Assen, the police arrested a 53-year-old man from Assen on Saturday morning on suspicion of copper theft.
The police and fire brigade pulled out when a strong gas smell was smelled around an empty building on Graswijk. In the vacant house, the police found the 53-year-old Assenaar. The man was arrested on the spot on suspicion of theft by burglary.
The man was released later in the day, but remains the suspect. The fire brigade and has handled the situation with the gas leak.
