The Eisbären Berlin have consolidated their lead in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). On Friday evening, the capital city team won against the Schwenninger Wild Wings 5:3 (0:1, 2:1 3:1).

Marcel Noebels scored three goals, and Yannick Veilleux and Tobias Eder also scored for the Berliners, who earned the three points with an energetic performance in the final third.

In front of 12,917 spectators in the arena at Ostbahnhof, the home team made a few mistakes and time penalties right from the start. Immediately after the first Schwenninger power play, Tyson Spink gave the guests an early lead.

The Berliners continued to struggle in the build-up game, but were able to equalize in the second third. Noebels capitalized on energetic preparatory work from Zach Boychuk.

In what was now a heated encounter, Spink scored the Black Forest team’s second goal, but Veilleux responded with a power-play goal for the hosts 53 seconds before the second break.

Shortly after the start of the final period, Alexander Karachun gave Schwenninger the lead for the third time, before Noebels turned things around in Berlin’s favor with his second and third goals. Eder even scored the hosts’ fifth goal shortly before the end of the game.
