500 extra charging stations for electric cars in West Flanders

Flanders wants 35,000 charging points for electric cars by 2025. Since September, local authorities have been able to designate strategic locations for charging points. In West Flanders, about 500 will be added in 31 municipalities. Leading the way are Roeselare with 106 and Bruges with 69 new charging points.

But smaller municipalities such as Wingene are also jumping on the bandwagon. Brecht Warnez: “We want 150 charging points by 2030, that is 1 in 100 inhabitants. Today we have 5, 17 will be added in the coming months. That is already a very big step, but we now have to take further steps. We have now determined those locations, and those charging stations will be installed in the coming months and years.”
