4,200 athletes from 56 countries will participate in the Islamic Solidarity Games



The 5th Islamic Solidarity Games’ will be held in Konya between 9-18 August with the participation of 4,200 athletes from 56 countries. The opening ceremony of the program will be held at Konya Metropolitan Stadium at 20:00 tomorrow. At the ceremony, in which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also attend, the Lebanese-born Swedish musician Maher Zain will give a concert, video mapping, drone and light shows will be held. In the opening ceremony, dancers will first perform the choreography of the ‘5th Islamic Solidarity Games’ logo. The logo, designed in the shape of a tulip, also contains the number 21 and symbolizes 2021, the year when these games should be made. The logo also includes the word ‘أ خ’, which means ‘brother’ in Arabic.

NATIONAL ATHLETES
After the choreography describing the beauties of Anatolia, the national anthem will be sung. Athletes of participating countries will participate in the parade. National athletes Hülya Şenyurt, Nur Tatar, Yasemin Adar, Merve Çoban, Halil Mutlu, Servet Tazegül and Mehmet Akif Pirim will bring the flag of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation. Then, the flag of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, which was established 37 years ago on May 8, 1985, will be raised. Paralympic archer Öznur Cüre and bicycle referee Serkan Karademir will swear on behalf of all the athletes who will compete in the games.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hüseyin İbrahim Taha and President of the Islamic Solidarity Games Federation Abdulaziz bin Türki al-Faisal al-Saud will make speeches at the opening ceremony.
