Victoria Cologne has now been waiting for a win for four games and has slipped to 14th place. Meanwhile, Ulm has moved up to third place.

Double packer Scienza surprises Viktoria Cologne

The game started quickly, although Cologne was more of a spectator. Because Viktoria was still sorting itself out when Ulm, who were initially more determined, combined to move forward with strong one-contact play. Scienza then took Dennis Chessa’s lob over the Cologne defense line and slotted in confidently.

And it continued straight away. Because the SSV pushed further forward into the attacking third with a lot of self-confidence and gave Cologne a hard time. Viktoria didn’t get a free kick from Ulm consistently cleared, and at the end of the scene a good-looking shot from Scienza landed in the corner – 0-2 from Cologne’s perspective.

A little spurred on by the bad start to the game, Cologne also got involved in a playful manner. Viktoria was given most of the ball by Ulm. The SSV was lurking. Viktoria’s best chance in the first half was missed by Donny Bogicevic after a strong dribble and shot by Luca Marseiler. His follow-up shot from close range and an acute angle missed (15th).

Viktoria on the trigger after Becker’s connecting goal

Cologne had better luck after the restart. Things went forward with a lot of steam, David Philipp hit the post after a strong dribble, Becker stood in the right place and scored.

After that, Viktoria had further good chances to turn the game in their favor. Becker’s header after a sharp cross from Patrick Koronkiewicz (54th) went past the goal. And Ulm goalkeeper Christian Ortag parried a powerful volley shot from Christoph Greger (57th).

But then Ulm recovered and made the game even again. Viktoria keeper Ben Voll had to distinguish himself with a world-class save, Scienza was suddenly able to shoot freely in front of Voll after a quick short passing game (58th). Later, Joker Röser scored SSV’s third goal and thus the final score after a careless Cologne loss of the ball.

Viktoria Köln demanded from Jahn Regensburg

On the 18th matchday Viktoria has to Cologne compete in someone else’s place. The people on the right bank of the Rhine will then be guests at SSV Jahn Regensburg (Sunday, 1:30 p.m.).
