SV Meppen got an away point in the third division thanks to an increase in performance. After falling behind, SVM drew 1-1 (0-1) at Hallesches FC on Friday.
Friends of physical football got their money’s worth in the first half, fans of cultivated combination play did not. Halle was the slightly more agile team, but posed just as little goal danger as the guests, who were very deep and hardly had any scenes near the goal.
It matched the course of the game that the HFC lead hit came about unintentionally and with luck. Meppen’s Ole Käuper headed Halle’s Tom Zimmerschied from a free-kick cross, and the ball swept past the post and into the goal (35′).
Significant increase in performance in the second half
So there was room for improvement in the second half. And both teams showed a much better football performance after the change of sides. The hosts pushed for the second goal and a possible preliminary decision. When Leon Damer (55th) and Sebastian Müller (56th) shots, Meppen’s keeper Jonas Kersken had to intervene.
The SVM, for their part, had their best chance of the game a little later: Samuel Abifade forced HFC goalkeeper Felix Gebhardt to make a good save from a good 15 meters out (61′). The action was a wake-up call for the Emslanders, who now had a significantly larger share of the game and equalized: Marvin Pourie headed in a cross from Christoph Hemlein to make it 1-1 (81st) and secured a deserved point for his team.
