3rd League: Dynamo Dresden threatens banner trouble at the DFB

As of: February 5, 2024 10:18 a.m

A week after the DFB sports court’s ruling over a transphobic banner displayed by Leverkusen fans, Dynamo supporters showed a banner with similar content. Now the SGD is threatened with a fine.

Third division team SG Dynamo Dresden is threatened with trouble from the German Football Association because of a banner shown during the away game in Ingolstadt. The banners read: “There is only one ridiculous DFB – and two genders.” The banner contradicts the Dresden Fan Charter drawn up between club representatives and the supporters.

Just a week ago, Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen was sentenced to a fine of 18,000 euros for a similar banner. At the home game against Werder Bremen in November 2023, a banner read: “There are many styles of music, but only 2 genders.” The DFB sports court spoke of “discriminatory and unsportsmanlike behavior”. The verdict triggered different reactions on social networks.

Dynamo suffered its third defeat of the year

From a purely sporting perspective, the Black and Yellows’ trip to Ingolstadt wasn’t worth it. Coach Markus beginning’s team lost after a long stretch unconvincing performance with 1:2.
