Third game of the English week, third win. At least that was Dynamo Dresden’s plan. But nothing came of it. Viktoria Köln suffered a deserved 1:2 (1:2) defeat on Saturday (13 August).

After two wins in a row, SG Dynamo Dresden came back to earth on Saturday at Viktoria Köln. In Cologne’s Sportpark am Höhenberg, the team coached by Markus Anfang could not get past a 1: 2 (1: 2). Everything initially went according to plan: Ahmet Arslan was served in an exemplary manner by Manuel Schäffler in the penalty area, and the opening goal was only a matter of form (14′). Viktoria was not impressed by this and repeatedly took control of the game. The outstanding Robin Meißner not only scored with his killer instinct to make it 1-1 (22nd), but also conjured up the winning goal with a beam just before the half-time whistle (43rd).

Around 1,000 Dynamo fans accompanied their team to Cologne.

Meißner puts the stamp on the game

The game started with a delay of around twelve minutes because not all Dynamo supporters had made it to the stadium on time. At the beginning both teams delivered an open exchange of blows. After the first consistent attack and Arslan’s lead, SGD often had control of the ball. Meißner equalized surprisingly, but turned the balance of power on the pitch. The second goal by Meißner, the player of the day, was spot-on, absolutely deserved and also worth seeing.

The outstanding Meißner put the stamp on the game with a brace.

Frankincense misses the equalizer

At the beginning of the second half, Dynamo brought in another central defender in Kevin Ehlers. Despite the change from 4-1-4-1 to a 3-5-2 system, the Dresdeners remained largely harmless on the offensive. Good chances were scarce, even if Patrick Weihrauch (83rd) had the equalizer late on and just missed.

More than Arslan’s goal was not possible for the SGD in Cologne.

SGD – Six Points from English Week

While Cologne go through the 2:1 victory with nine points from the English week, the SGD only have six. It was obvious that Markus Anfang’s team, despite all the individual class, still lacked some automatisms. The Dynamo will have the opportunity to eradicate on August 20th. against Elversberg.
