3rd league: Dresden’s jokers bring victory against decimated Ingolstadt

As of: 09/02/2023 7:29 p.m

Fourth win of the season, table lead defended: Dynamo Dresden also underpinned their status as favorites against FC Ingolstadt. Two jokers made the difference against guests who were outnumbered at half-time.

Dynamo Dresden kept the points at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in the third home game of the season. The team coached by Markus Anfang celebrated a 2-0 win (0-0) on Saturday (September 2) against FC Ingolstadt, who had to play with a man down for half-time after captain Lukas Fröde was sent off in a dispute. Thanks to their fourth win of the season, Dresden remains at the top of the standings.

After the injury-related absence of Kevin Ehlers New signing Tobias Kraulich in Dresden’s central defense was given preference over Lars Bünning and at the same time celebrated his competitive debut. In addition, Dennis Borkowski moved to the right offensive position for Jakob Lemmer. FCI trainer Michael Köllner trusted the identical starting XI that had recently drawn against Saarbrücken.

Room farewell without final luck

In front of a home crowd, Dynamo acted decisively from the start and pressed Ingolstadt into their own half early on. Tom Zimmerschied had the first opportunity after four minutes, but was unable to get the ball right on goal after a mistake by Ingolstadt’s Leon Guwara. The guests missed the necessary consistency in the game structure in the first few minutes. Dynamo had no trouble intercepting the mostly flat balls through the center. On the other side, Dresden combined again and again handsomely in the opposing sixteen. In the 13th minute it was Zimmerschied again, who had the lead on his feet, but didn’t quite hit a sharp cross from Borkowski on the second post.

FCI captain Fröde flies

Ingolstadt came into play better as a result, now forcing Dynamo to make bad passes. Jonathan Meier was lucky that losing the ball in the 38th minute had no consequences, as Jakob Lewald prevented FCI striker Julian Kügel from scoring. Shortly before, Paul Will had tested guest keeper Marius Funk with a long-range shot.

The game then took a crucial turn a few minutes before the break whistle. Referee Konrad Oldhafer sent FCI captain Fröde off with a straight red. This was preceded by a duel with Kutschke, in which Fröde had probably kicked slightly and both players then hooked each other – an extremely difficult decision. The SGD could have almost used the majority before the break, but again Zimmerschied missed the opposing goal with a volley after a fine chipball from Will.

Vlachodimos redeems Dynamo

With the restart, as was to be expected, a game developed in one direction. Dynamo ran, combining well into the sixteen, but still lacked the necessary consistency in the end. Both Will with another long-range shot (54th) and Niklas Hauptmann’s sharp cross to Kutschke (55th) didn’t let the knot burst. SGD trainer Beginning quarreled and brought new staff with Panagiotis Vlachodimos, among others. That should pay off right away. After a bang from Lewald, Funk in the FCI box first parried against Herrmann, before Vlachodimos was able to finish completely alone in the left sixteen and, with a bit of luck, scored the lead through Ingolstadt’s defense (62′).

Schäffler puts the lid on

Dresden was now looking for the preliminary decision, constricting the guests on their own sixteen, which were no longer able to relieve attacks. In the 68th minute, the whole stadium was already cheering: Vlachodimos, staged by Will, had rounded Funk and only had to push in. Inexplicably, the 31-year-old hit the post. Even after that, Dynamo was sloppy with his chances. Meier’s long-range shot sailed meters over the goal despite a good finishing position (77′), substitute Manuel Schäffler’s aim in the right penalty area was also not precise enough (81′).

The lack of conversion almost justified it, but Ryan Malone failed in the 88th minute after a free kick on Kraulich, who blocked, before he also thundered the follow-up shot over the goal. At the other end, Schäffler put the lid on with a dry low shot after submission by Kammerknecht (90′).
