3rd league: Dresden moves to first place

Dynamo Dresden has initially taken over the lead in the 3rd football league. With the 2-0 (1-0) win at Waldhof Mannheim, the Saxons moved past Jahn Regensburg.

On Wednesday (7:00 p.m./Magenta Sport), Jahn has the chance to regain first place in the table by winning a point against the Dortmund reserves.

The own goal from Mannheim’s Bentley Baxter Bahn (45′) and the goal from Lucas Cueto (61′) were enough for Dynamo to win. With 46 points each, Dresden and Regensburg are still clearly on course for promotion, the competition from Ulm and Essen are ten points behind.

Rot-Weiss Essen scored points in the fight for the relegation place behind the leading duo. With the 3:1 (0:0) against Viktoria Köln, RWE drew level with SSV Ulm with 36 points. SC Verl had to let something go with a poor 0-0 draw against 1. FC Saarbrücken.

MSV Duisburg loses after red

In Duisburg, MSV lost its first sense of success under the new managing director Michael Preetz. Outnumbered after Joshua Bitter (59th, serious foul) saw red, the Revierklub gave up a lead and lost the basement duel with Halleschen FC 2:3 (2:1).

VfB Lübeck missed the opportunity to escape the relegation zone for the time being. VfB played 1:1 (0:0) against 1860 Munich and remains in 17th place in the table. Mirko Boland (88th) equalized shortly before the end after Mansour Ouro-Tagba (79th) had put 1860 in the lead.
