As of: February 9, 2024 9:09 p.m

Despite being outnumbered for half an hour, Borussia Dortmund II took three points from Cologne in the 3rd football league. Viktoria had to be blamed for not making enough use of their playful dominance.

On Friday evening (February 9th, 2024), BVB II took the three points and beat Viktoria Köln 3:1 (2:1). Ayman Azhil (14th minute) scored Dortmund’s opening goal, Michael Eberwein (27th) increased. Suheyel Najar (44th) scored Cologne’s goal, but Ole Pohlmann (51st) restored the distance for BVB II. Dortmund’s Julian Hettwer was sent off due to an emergency stop (60′), but Cologne could no longer take advantage of their advantage.

BVB II more efficient than Viktoria Cologne

At first the home team got into the game a little better. The FC Victoria Cologne quickly gained 70 percent of the ball possession and cut a better figure in his attacking efforts. But the people of Cologne didn’t capitalize on it.

It was all the more bitter for those on the right bank of the Rhine that BVB efficiently exploited their own offensive scenes in the first half – four shots on goal up to the half-hour mark, two goals. First Franz Roggow found Azhil with a nice lob in the penalty area, who slotted in ice-cold to give Dortmund the lead. Eberwein headed the score to 2-0 for the BVB reserves.

The defiant Viktoria managed to equalize before the break. André Becker failed with his header (42′), Najar then did better. He sent the ball into the goal with a remarkable volley after a cross from Luca Marseiler.

Cologne in aluminum pitch, BVB II scores in return

The home team also made the first statement in the second half. Marseiler’s direct shot from a Cologne corner hit the outside post (50′).

And in return showed up Borussia Dortmund II ice cold again: Pohlmann danced past Michael Schultz with a quick physical illusion and scored to make it 3-1. Shortly before the hour mark, BVB attacker Hettwer had to leave the field with a red card because of an emergency stop against Najar. But Viktoria were no longer able to score even when they had the majority, even though they clearly had the majority of chances.
