30. New signing for Nottingham Forest: Ghana captain André Ayew signs

Reunion with Coach Cooper

Nottingham Forest have signed their 30th signing of the 2022/23 season. André Ayew signed a contract with the newly promoted Premier League on Thursday until the end of the season. The 33-year-old canceled his working papers with Al-Sadd SC from the Qatar Stars League last Sunday. Unlike in the Bundesliga, the English top flight can still hire non-club professionals after the winter transfer window has closed.

The 113-time Ghana international, who also captained the “Black Stars” at the World Cup in Qatar, had previously played for Swansea City and West Ham United on the island. His highest market value to date of 18 million euros also stems from this period. Overall, Ayew can look back on 89 Premier League games (21 goals/12 assists) and 87 appearances in the Championship (31 goals/11 assists).

“It’s a great feeling to sign for Nottingham Forest. I know how big the club is and how much it means to the city and the fans. It’s always been difficult when I’ve played against Forest and at the City Ground and I love the stadium,” said Ayew, who previously played for Swansea City under coach Steve Cooper. “Steve Cooper is someone who knows me very well and how to work with me, both on and off the pitch. We have a close relationship, he’s a special coach and a special person that I really look up to. I know what I can bring to the team, I’m ready to give it my all and make sure we’re able to stay in the Premier League.”
