Bad news for SSV Ulm: The third division team is expected to do without captain Johannes Reichert until the end of the season, as the club confirmed. The 34-year-old central defender had suffered a cruciate ligament and meniscus tear as well as cartilage damage on the 1st matchday against Wehen Wiesbaden. According to the association, Reichert operated successfully.
“At first I am glad that the operation went well. That my knee got more than the cruciate ligament rupture has already been indicated. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in the past few days, for whom countless news and especially with my team. This backing gives me a lot of strength and I will give everything for a successful rehab. From outside the place I support the boys as best.” Counted on the club.
With exceptions of two years that Reichert spent on the U23 of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern, he has been the first team of sparrows since 2010. Since then he has played 433 games for Ulm – only one player comes to more. Despite the old age and serious injury, some are still likely to follow, because his contract is valid until 2027.
