After the separation from Dominik Glawogger, SV Waldhof Mannheim found a new coach. Luc Holtz succeeds the third division club. The 56-year-old has been Luxembourg’s national coach since 2010 and was originally supposed to leave the red lions at the end of the year. Holtz led the small state permanently into the top 100 in the FIFA world rankings and only failed in the qualification for the EM 2024 in the playoffs.
“Luc Holtz has shown in recent years that he can develop teams and build up structures. He places high footballing demands on his teams – this fits perfectly with our philosophy and the compilation of our squad. In the conversations, he presented himself as an absolute specialist. We are very happy that he decided to go to the spa pfalz,” said sports director Mathias Schober.

Holtz added: “I am very pleased to be able to sign my contract here in Mannheim today. The time as a national coach in Luxembourg was a great and formative phase for me – personally and professionally. Now I will burn it to tackle a new chapter at a traditional club like SV Waldhof. I am convinced that we can achieve a lot together as a closed unit.” Waldhof won a point from the first two third division games.
