Düsseldorf (AP) – Second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf will not travel to the training camp in Marbella (Spain) in the coming week.
As Fortuna announced, the association follows the recommendations of all relevant medical decision-making bodies that advise against a training camp in Spain due to the current infection situation. The team will now complete the preparation in Düsseldorf from Monday, January 3rd – a corresponding plan has already been prepared in the past few weeks.
“After intensive discussions between the health department, the sports management and the medical department of Fortuna, we decided not to travel to Spain. According to the latest information on the rapid spread of the Omikron variant, we followed the recommendation of the medical decision-making bodies, team doctor Ulf Blecker explained in the message.
