2nd league: Arminia stays last after losing to KSC – Fürth gets a point

Loss to KSC

Bundesliga relegated Arminia Bielefeld remains bottom of the table after the 11th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga. The East Westphalians conceded a deserved 1:2 (0:1) against Karlsruher SC on Friday and are the only team with only eight points on their account. After a decent start, under the new coach Daniel Scherning, three of the last four games have now been lost. In addition, defender Frederik Jäkel had to be replaced before the break after a collision with teammate Oliver Hüsing with suspected concussion.

The KSC, on the other hand, can now orient itself upwards with 17 points. Fabian Schleusener secured the deserved half-time lead for Baden (43′). After the break, Arminia got a little stronger and were quickly rewarded with an equalizer from Janni Serra (53′). But almost in return, Marvin Wanitzek re-gained the lead for Karlsruhe with a deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area – it was the winning goal. The Bielefeld spectators said goodbye to their team with a loud whistling concert.

At Jahn Regensburg: Greuther Fürth misses the first away win

SpVgg Greuther Fürth also missed their first away win in the Bavarian duel with SSV Jahn Regensburg. The Franconians, threatened with relegation, did not remain without a goal and had to settle for a 2:2 (1:1) at Jahn on Friday. Damian Michalski (34′) and Simon Asta (74′) scored for the game association in front of 10,716 spectators. Kaan Caliskaner (42nd/62nd) provided the interim lead for Regensburg.

A lot initially happened in midfield and set pieces provided the greatest goal threat. Jahn-Keeper Dejan Stojanovic was able to parry Ragnar Ache’s header after a free-kick, but he had no chance against Michalski’s follow-up shot. At the other end, the ball bounced off a corner from Caliskaner’s thigh. The equalizer was deserved because Regensburg controlled the game.

Even after the break, the game initially took place between the penalty areas – until Caliskaner appeared again with the ball in front of the opposing goal and slammed the ball powerfully into the corner. A heated final phase developed in which Asta brought the guests back into play after a cross. Scott Kennedy (87th) had the victory for more powerful Regensburg on his head, but put the ball just wide of the goal after a corner.
