2nd division: Heidenheim finishes off 1. FC Nuremberg – SC Paderborn celebrates at 1. FC Kaiserslautern

FCN completely indisposed

The high season expectations of 1. FC Nürnberg were more than dampened by a powerful hit by 1. FC Heidenheim. The completely indisposed “Club” lost 0:3 (0:1) in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening. In front of 27,155 spectators at the Max Morlock Stadium, the guests celebrated their third win after a strong performance and goals from Denis Thomalla (44th minute), Adrian Beck (49th) and Jan-Niklas Beste (80th) on matchday four . After two defeats, Nuremberg are sobered with four points.

For the Heidenheimers, the absence of scorer Tim Kleindienst, who was ill, was of no consequence. Coach Frank Schmidt’s team was in top form and acted in a very calm manner. Thomalla scored after a counterattack, Beck undisturbed from a distance. Beste went one better after a header from Kevin Sessa on the bar (74th).

Nuremberg never got access to the game. The switch from diamond in midfield to double six, which coach Robert Klauß made at the break, fizzled out, as did the personnel changes. Hardly a move was successful, there was a lack of assertiveness and playfulness. Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller parried the few good shots by Kwadwo Duah (25th) and Lino Tempelmann (59th).

Platte lets SC Paderborn celebrate: 1-0 in Kaiserslautern

Thanks to Felix Platte, SC Paderborn has at least temporarily moved to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga and inflicted the first defeat of the season on 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team won 1-0 (0-0) on Friday evening in front of 33,098 spectators at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Attacker Platte scored the goal in the 82nd minute with his fourth goal of the season.

From the 50th minute onwards, the Palatinate played ten men, as Hendrick Zuck saw the red card for an emergency brake. Both teams played evenly until the break. In the twelfth minute, Lautern’s Boris Tomiak headed the bar, on the other side a header by Platte narrowly missed the FCK goal (33′).

The decisive scene then happened in the 47th minute: Kaiserslautern’s Zuck fouled Sirlord Conteh, referee Matthias Jöllenbeck first showed Zuck a yellow card and awarded a penalty. However, he corrected himself after video evidence of a free kick because the foul took place just outside the penalty area – and punished Zuck with red. Paderborn had a little more of the game with a superior number and Platte used one of the few chances of the guests to score the winning goal.
