The next goal was again on Darmstadt’s account: After Mehmet Aydin lost the ball in midfield, Tietz suddenly had a clear path and nervedly pushed the ball from 17 meters past Schalke’s keeper Martin Fraisl to make it 3-1 (63 ‘). But Schalke was not yet defeated. In the 69th minute, Ouwejan’s free-kick was in the Darmstadt goal, but the goal was disallowed for Thiaw’s offside position.
The 2:3 by Pieringer (88th) came too late, especially since Goller restored the old gap in return.
