Second division team SC Preußen Münster introduced Alexander Ende’s successor, Alois Schwartz, on Tuesday evening.
The 58-year-old should lead the Adlerträger to stay in the league in the seven remaining second division games. His contract in Muenster initially applies until the end of the season. U23 coach Kiran Schulze Marmeling, who looked after the team on an interim basis last weekend, will also support Schwartz as an assistant coach, as will LZ head Janis Hohenhövel.
“Alois Schwartz is a very experienced coach who, with clear leadership and structure, has already shown that he can give teams valuable impetus in relegation battles,” explained Münster’s sports director Ole Kittner. “He knows what it takes to maximize the chances of a successful end to the season in this situation.”
Schwartz most recently coached Saarbrücken
“I am very much looking forward to this task and have accepted it because I am convinced that together we can achieve a turnaround,” Schwartz is quoted as saying. “The team has already shown that they have the mentality and quality to survive in this league.”
Schwartz most recently coached third division club 1. FC Saarbrücken. Previously, he was on the sidelines for 1. FC Nürnberg, Karlsruher SC, SV Sandhausen and Hansa Rostock in a total of 222 second division games. Schwartz will be officially introduced at a press conference on Wednesday.
Preußen Münster is bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga table after 27 matchdays, but is only two points behind the saving bank.
