O’Shaughnessy’s air hole
A mistake was also decisive for Regensburg’s lead: After a long ball from Besuschkow, O’Shaughnessy hit an air hole, which gave Jan-Niklas Beste a clear path. KSC goalkeeper Gersbeck got out, but Beste used it for a sensitive lob to make it 0:1 (31st).
Confused Badeners had to be extremely careful not to concede the second goal in the minutes that followed, but were then increasingly able to pull themselves together without having any chances worth mentioning to equalize.
Hofmann equalizes
In the second half, the Karlsruhe team increased the pressure and scored a well-deserved equalizer from a set piece. At a Heise corner from the left, Hofmann pulled away from Elvedi and then headed in from six yards into the far corner (70′). Nothing to do for Alexander Meyer.
KSC next against Aue
Karlsruhe will continue on Friday evening (March 18th, 2022) with a game against Aue, Regensburg has a two-day break and then plays Paderborn at home.
