The Hertha will also take place in the 2nd Bundesliga under the new coach Stefan Leitl. On Friday evening (February 21, 200), the Berliners played a tie against the recently strong Nuremberg draw.
After the 0: 0 (0: 0), the Hertha is initially in 12th place in the table with 26 points and is therefore six points ahead of the relegation place. In the Berlin Olympic Stadium, the run from 1st FC Nürnberg also ended that evening. After three wins in series, the Miroslav Klose team is in eighth place with 35 points – but keeps the upper ranks in mind.
Leitl was only installed as the new head coach of Hertha BSC on Monday evening. The 47-year-old succeeded Cristian Fiél, from whom the Berliners had separated in series after four defeats. In the Berlin starting eleven, Leitl immediately caused a surprise and set up Tjark Ernst instead of Marius Gersbeck in the goal.
Nuremberg leaves the Hertha the ball
In a cautious initial phase, Hertha had a little more possession of the ball, but the Berliners did not make it into the last third of the attack. However, even less came from the club, which went to work extremely.
Fabian Reese almost punished the Nuremberg passivity. But the Berlin captain failed with a volley half -right to Nuremberg’s goalkeeper Jan Reichert (28th). The only big chance of the first half should remain. After all, good for many Nuremberg fans who had found their way to the Olympic Stadium shortly before the break.
Hertha comes out of the break massively
At the beginning of the second phase of the game, it was again the Hertha, which at least caused some football entertainment. And again Reese was the focus, but his degree from an acute angle only landed on the outside network (58th).
A little later the Nürberger was lucky that the referee Harm Osmers did not point to the penalty point when Berkay Yilmaz in his own sixteen jumped clearly (61.).
In the final phase, the game then visibly flattened that only Yilmaz would have given the club an away win over a hair, but his degree in short corner was still able to defuse Ernst (83.).
The Hertha cannot be denied in the first game under Leitl, especially since the zero could be kept at the back. After four defeats in a row, the Berliners can take some confidence in the upcoming tasks.
