Two and a half minutes of scary insights. But is Cillian Murphy anywhere to be seen?

Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland have teamed up again to prepare a new apocalypse story for the big screen. Fans of the 2002 original horror “28 Days Later” had to wait a long time for a new zombie madness. Although another film, “28 Weeks Later,” was released in 2007, Boyle and Garland only acted as producers. Now the two Brains are back in the lead and deliver apocalyptic atmosphere with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes in the leading roles. A first trailer now gives a foretaste of the tone of the new work, which will be released in cinemas on June 19, 2025.

But no Cillian Murphy as Jim?

For over two minutes you can put yourself in a dark mood and see the protagonists’ first moments of struggle and fear. But the question that arises after watching the first moving footage of “28 Years Later” is about Cillian Murphy. This was supposed to appear in the new movie, but it can’t be seen in the trailer. Although he is credited as an executive producer, he is not listed as an actor in the promotional material.

Who is also at the start: Jack O’Connell and Erin Kellyman.

What “28 Years Later” is about

The official description of the Panic film reads: “It has been nearly three decades since the Rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory, and now, with quarantine still being relentlessly enforced, some have found a way to escape amidst it of the infected to survive. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island to reach the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected, but other survivors as well.”

More horror on hold

After “28 Years Later,” there will be two more films in this apocalyptic scenario because this is the start of a trilogy. “28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple” was also shot simultaneously with this horror – the second part, which was directed by Nia DaCosta.
