Recommendations of the editorial team

Machina should be her last album

“Machina was intended as our farewell work, and it was really a matter close to the heart to realize it, as we were broken at the time,” said Billy Corgan when the new edition was announced in June. The front man thus alludes to the late 1990s when the band’s album sales sank and the alternative rock group finally dissolved. In 2006 there was a reunion of the Smashing Pumpkins, and last year her 13th studio album Aghori Mhori Mei.

With all success, Machina has gained great popularity and is not only considered a fan favorite, but also as a sought-after collector’s item.

The anniversary box set

The extensive new edition celebrates the most important album in the band’s history. The box set not only includes the popular studio album, but also combines it with its musical counterpart Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music. It contains 80 songs from Machina and Machina II, including their hits “The Everlasting Gaze” (1999), “Stand Inside Your Love” (2000) and “Try, Try, Try” (2000). There are also 32 bonus tracks with demos, outtakes and live performances by the band.

The box set is on-line Available, but also in Billy Corgan’s own tea shop, “Madame Zu’s Tea Shop”, in Highland Park, Illinois.

At the moment the Smashing Pumpkins end their “The Aghori Tour”. Comed weekend, however, it goes on for the band: On August 24th, the “Rock Invasion 2025 Tour” starts in Finland.
