About 25 kilos of illegal fireworks were found in a home in Breda on Wednesday evening. This concerns fireworks from categories F2, F3 and the life-threatening F4. The resident, a 20-year-old man from the Westerpark district, will be interrogated and will have to appear in court later.
The case came to light after it was seen in the Hoge Vught district last week that the young man had a large amount of illegal fireworks in his car. That information was shared with the police.
Based on that information, the police decided to visit the suspect’s parental home on Thursday evening, because it was suspected that more fireworks may have been stored there. During the search, a large quantity of prohibited fireworks was indeed found.
The fireworks were immediately confiscated and will be destroyed. According to the police, storing this amount of fireworks could have posed major risks to the environment. “In the event of ignition, the consequences are incalculable,” the police said.
The 20-year-old man is questioned about the origin and purpose of the fireworks possession.
