Despite being in the lead twice, Viktoria Berlin suffered the next defeat in the 3rd football league. Coach Benedetto Muzzicato’s team lost 2-3 (2-2) at SV Waldhof Mannheim on Saturday.

In front of 6,000 spectators in the Carl Benz Stadium, new signing Brooklyn Ezeh gave the guests the lead in the 1st and 37th minutes. Marc Schnatterer (3rd), Joseph Boyamba (43rd, penalty kick) and Dominik Martinovic (85th) helped Mannheim to victory with their goals.

The Berliners, who recently had to cope with a number of game cancellations due to various corona cases, remain in 14th place with 26 points.

Muzzicato rotated four times compared to the last league game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (0:2) and his team started promisingly. After just over half a minute, Viktoria defender Ezeh threw a deflected shot in the penalty area. But Mannheim answered 120 seconds later with Schnatterer.

The game then calmed down, there was a lot of back and forth without any chances worth mentioning – until Ezeh converted a free kick from about 25 meters into the top left corner, which is worth seeing. The lead didn’t last long either: Mannheim equalized with a rather flattering penalty before the break.

After the change of sides, the game didn’t offer any real highlights for a long time. Pascal Sohm missed for Mannheim centrally in front of Viktoria goalkeeper Julian Krahl (55th), before Martinovic decided the game with a shot from an acute angle.
