22-year-old jumps off bridge and ends up in wheelchair: ‘Don’t do what I did’ | Abroad

Last year, the 22-year-old decided to jump off the Devil’s Bridge in Kirkby Londsdale in the UK with some friends. The intention was to be able to cool off in the river. Her fall had Libbey captured on video. But while she seems to be splashing in the water, she can be heard screaming that she has hurt her back.

She dragged herself to the side, where she could do nothing but lie there for three and a half hours, waiting for the emergency services. She was then rushed to hospital where she lay on the operating table for six hours.

The young woman is now begging others via social media not to imitate her. “I’ve seen a lot of people jump off the bridge, including children, and they were all fine. Standing on the edge, I felt a little adrenaline mixed with nervousness. From the moment I jumped I felt fear and just before I hit the water I realized how high it really was. I was just unlucky. The way I hit the water made it feel like I was hitting a stone wall. It caused a fracture in my spine,” she says.

‘Do not do it’

“My message is this: it can happen to anyone at any time and every small decision can change your whole life. Therefore don’t do this. Everyone makes mistakes, but I just want to raise awareness among people.”

Sinden spent a week in the hospital and then spent four months in a wheelchair to recover. Since then she has been living with metal rods and titanium screws in her spine. “I had to learn to walk again and adapt to everything. I still need to see the physical therapist and will be for a while. I still can’t bend completely and part of my spine still doesn’t move very well. I used to be very active but that is still not allowed. It’s now been a year and I still feel pain,” it still sounds.
