Anyone who receives an immediate collection or traffic fine next year will have to pay significantly more: the amounts will increase by 10 percent, the office of Minister of Justice Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) confirms. Although it is still unclear when the increase will take effect, this increase immediately raises the question: is this a necessary intervention to improve road safety, or is the motorist an easy victim to close the holes in the public purse?
