2. Bundesliga: HSV saves a point late in Düsseldorf – 2. Bundesliga – football

Most recently corona cases at both clubs

Like HSV, Düsseldorf has recently recorded a few corona cases. Among others, it hit Thioune, who got fit in time for the duel with his former club. “I’m looking forward to seeing you again. Of course I wished to be more successful last year. But I’m fine with HSV and now I’m completely from Düsseldorf,” said the 47-year-old before the game on “Sky”.

Düsseldorf dominant from the start

The Fortunes, who had remained unbeaten in the first five matches under Thioune, had HSV under control from the start and were only a hair’s breadth into the lead twice before the break. Daniel Heuer Fernandes deflected Edgar Prib’s direct free kick (14′) to the inside of the post, and Jordy de Wijs missed the ball on the rebound. In the 45th minute, Emmanuel Iyoha also failed because of the aluminum.

Furious final phase

The Hamburgers, whose home game against Erzgebirge Aue had to be postponed at short notice last week due to numerous corona cases, were also looking for their rhythm after the break. In the 76th minute, Robert Glatzel had a great chance to make it 1-0, but he couldn’t get past David Kinsombi’s cross pass in the penalty area. On the other side, Captain Bodzek rewarded Fortuna with a long-range shot. Glatzel then redeemed the North Germans with the late equaliser.

Hamburger SV has to play against SC Paderborn at home on the next matchday (April 2nd, 2022), Fortuna Düsseldorf plays at Karlsruher SC a day later.
