The promotion euphoria in Hamburg is growing. Second division head leader HSV finally seems to have found the right way for the Bundesliga return. Against Eintracht Braunschweig, the next threesome is said to be in the Volksparkstadion. For the “lions”, every point counts in the fight for stay in the class.
Six points ahead of third place and the far better goal difference: after seven years of second class, leader HSV is close to the return to the Beletage of German Football. Last but not least, the sale of the Volkspark Stadium within an hour for the last home game against Ulm illustrates the euphoria that prevails around the traditional club.
Polzin: “Focus only on Eintracht Braunschweig”
While the appendix is in high mood, coach Merlin Polzin prefers to take the brakes a little six before the end. “We will not exaggerate, but we won’t do less because we think we’ve already reached anything,” said the 34-year-old in front of the north duel. “We only focus on Eintracht Braunschweig. We don’t think of the next week, not the opponent who comes afterwards.”
HSV Hemp. still under Baumgart
The Hamburgers have to make up for a little more against the Braunschweig. In November there was a 1: 3 with the relegation candidate in the first half of the season. At that time Steffen Baumgart was head coach. Twelve days later and after a following 2: 2 against Schalke, the club separated from him and the previous assistant coach Polzin.
Born in Hamburg, it may be possible what has failed much more well -known predecessors at HSV. “It doesn’t help us if we have already tried to reach conditions that we want to reach our heads,” said Polzin. “We are very happy that we are in this initial situation. But we also know what we did for it.” It is not made the mistake of moving away from the things “who have brought us where we are now, but we will continue to work as well”.
Meffert is missing before returning to the HSV team – rice and muheim
Polzin can also help that in the final spurt he can draw on the promotion of the promotion. Jonas Meffert could also return to the defensive midfield against Braunschweig. He lacked 3-0 against 1. FC Nürnberg after an operation for a broken nose. “If Meffo is fit and can play, it is a central building block in our way to play football,” said the 34-year-old. He was “an absolute leader in our team”.
Compared to the Nuremberg game, striker Davie Selke (back problems) and defender Dennis Hadzikadunic (exhausted shoulder) are also there again. The blocked midfielder Ludovit Reis and the injured left -back Miro Muheim are definitely missing.
Eintracht coach Scherning: “I believe in it”
That makes no difference for Eintracht trainer Daniel Schering. He leads the HSV attack against Nuremberg as an example: “If a Davie Selke fails, a Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer plays and a Robert Glatzel is substituted. No other second division,” he said, but still pays off something. “Nothing is impossible in football, we also showed that in the back series. Of course everything has to fit that this happens a second time. But I believe in it and this belief is extremely important in this phase.”
Although the Lower Saxony are in the highest need on relegation relegation square 16, they come to Hamburg with the confidence of a 3-2 success against SC Paderborn. “We are fat and have everything in our own hands. The path is still far. We took a step to achieve our big goal, but not more,” Scherning said after the home win. Making the next at HSV should be even more difficult.
