2. Bundesliga: 1. FC Heidenheim extended with Stefan Schimmer

contract would have expired

Stefan Schimmer will remain at 1. FC Heidenheim beyond the end of the season. As the club announced on Friday, the striker has extended his originally expiring contract by three more years. The 28-year-old has made 21 appearances so far this season, most of them short, in which he has scored two goals and two assists.

Heidenheim Sport Division Manager Robert Strauss said of the extension: “‘Bomber’ comes from our region, has made the step to becoming a seasoned second division player and embodies our mentality one hundred percent. Over the years he has shown us how important he is to us with his goals and that he throws in everything he has in every game – whether from the start or as a joker!”

Schimmer moved from SpVgg Unterhaching to Heidenheim in 2019, where he has since jumped to his personal best of 400,000 euros. In the current squad, he is one of four trained “Nines”.
