175 candles for brush manufacturer Colpaert from Izegem

From craft to automated brush production, the Colpaert family has experienced it all. Automation in the 1960s and epoxy adhesives in the 1970s revolutionized brush production.

Flexibility was our strength

At some point in history, the market is flooded with Italian imports. Many manufacturers do not survive the storms, but Colpaert does.

“The flexibility of our company allowed us to respond quickly to the wishes of the customers. That has been the strength of our company,” says Ludo Colpaert of the fifth generation.

“Top in Paint Brushes”

Today Colpaert mainly makes paint brushes. But China has now also taken up a large part of the market in the niche of paint brushes. “Belgium and the Netherlands are known for top-quality paints. Then you also need quality tools here,” says director Dries Lescouhier.

Colpaert is the only and perhaps last paintbrush manufacturer in the country. 70 percent of the brushes are sold in Belgium, 30 percent is for export, especially to neighboring countries. The demand for paint brushes has only increased as people rinse their brushes less and less.
