She is an eleven-time German youth champion and has celebrated several gymnastics successes. Nevertheless, Meolie Jauch from MTV Stuttgart is ending her career – and speaks openly about the reasons.

Last year, Meolie Jauch from MTV Stuttgart was at the World Championships in Antwerp and was able to celebrate immediate success. She won silver on the uneven bars at her first World Cup. But now the 17-year-old gymnast announced the end of her career a few days ago – and gave insights into her emotional world.

In an emotional Instagram post, the gymnast explained why she said goodbye to the competition stage. Jauch wrote about a photo of himself: “High stress, hard units, medals and on and on – little time for recovery. It had to go on and on. I wanted to give it my all. I didn’t notice that I wasn’t taking enough care of my body and mine mental health heard.”

She continued to write about a video with moments from her childhood and career: “I’m listening to my inner voice and quitting top-class sport. Not because I don’t want to fight anymore, not because my body can’t do it anymore – but because mentally I can’t do it anymore goes.”

She also admitted: “The hall, which was my home for so long, is now a place where I no longer feel so comfortable.” She now wants to try new things and is looking forward to it. She also thanked her parents for supporting her.

Many gymnastics colleagues reacted to the post and wrote encouraging comments under the post. Former gymnast Tabea Alt, who won bronze on the balance beam at the World Championships in 2017, said: “You can be so proud of yourself! Good luck and lots of joy in your new phase of life!” Her club also said: “Your words touch us deeply.”

Last year, Jauch suffered a torn cruciate ligament and a torn inner ligament in his right knee. She fought back, but she also admitted that she didn’t do it for herself, but “for everyone else.” After her career ends, however, she will continue to do gymnastics: “Nothing will ever change that.”
