With a furious performance in the final, the Bremen late information team successfully defended their World Championship title in Vienna. The team from Buchholz only made it to fifth place.
The best was saved for last: The Bremen Green-Gold Club showed its strongest performance in the final at the end of a long tournament day in Vienna and was rewarded with the highest rating of the six formations.
With 36.48 points, coach Roberto Albanese’s team won its 14th world title and once again underlined its own class in late information dancing. The world champion’s self-confident announcement paid off.
I don’t feel the breath of the competition, I feel my own breath. Of course we put ourselves under pressure because we want to deliver as defending champions. And if you want to win against us today, you have to be very good.
(GGC coach Roberto Albanese)
A narrow lead over Zwölfaxing
However, the strongest competitor of the evening danced last and so things got exciting again in the end when hosts HSV Zwölfaxing took to the field with “Momentum”. Cheered on by the frenetic fans in the Vienna Multiverse, the Austrians delivered an inspiring performance – but with 36.00 points, it was just not enough to knock Green-Gold off the dance throne.
The second German team, Blau-Weiss Buchholz, had to settle for fifth place after fourth place at their World Cup debut last year with the new choreography “On the Floor”. Both teams from Mongolia had moved ahead of the Buchholz team.
Surprising choreo from Moon Dance
Moon Dance was particularly surprising with a very unusual choreography that had nothing to do with the classic Latin dance. The team danced the origins of the five Latin dances with completely different sounds and images. The twelve judges approved “Latin Roots” and placed Moon Dance in third place.
Star Team from Mongolia also impressed the audience and the judges with their very good performance, despite a few small weaknesses, and came in fourth place with a very thin lead over Buchholz.
