A 14-year-old boy died in Rotterdam on Tuesday evening due to a fireworks incident. The Rotterdam police reported this in an email message on X.
The boy was said to have been seriously injured by the fireworks. The accident happened around 8:30 PM in the Delfshaven district of Rotterdam. According to the police, the boy was resuscitated, but help was of no avail.
It is not yet known what happened and what type of fireworks they involved. The authorities are investigating. “That must be done carefully,” a police spokesperson told ANP. Witnesses are currently being heard.
According to witnesses who told the local broadcaster Rijnmond spoke, the boy is said to have set off illegal fireworks, possibly a cobra, which went off prematurely.
