The Lichtfeest is a neighborhood project. Residents, schools and local associations helped to make lanterns and sculptures. A total of 750 lanterns were distributed, which together formed a large light beacon, inspired by navigation lights at sea.
“That is just the intention,” says Bruges mayor Dirk De Fauw. “The party is growing from the bottom up, with a lot of effort from the inhabitants of Lissewege and the Bruges schools.”
