11Teamsports strengthens its presence in team sports and acquires basketball and streetwear retailer Kickz.
With the takeover of the Munich retailer, “11Teamsports Group is strategically expanding its team sports expertise in the field of basketball and is setting a clear signpost towards the future,” the sportswear retailer announced on Monday.
“Our goal is to become the largest team sports authenticator in Europe,” said Ralf Fässler, CEO of the 11Teamsports Group. “With Kickz, we are gaining a prominent and strong retailer for our group.”
The sports and lifestyle retailer Kickz was founded in Munich in 1993 and specializes in basketball and sneakers. Kickz has five stores in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, including a new location on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm.
“We are delighted to now be part of the 11Teamsports Group,” said Mark Petereit, Co-CEO of KICKZ.com GmbH. “As the largest basketball authenticator in Europe and part of the community for 30 years, we want to continue to grow healthily and will continue on our way.”
11Teamsports is a European team sports specialist based in Satteldorf, in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg. In addition to its own online shop, the company operates more than 71 stores in Europe, including in Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Prague, Athens and Valencia. 11Teamsports is also the outfitter of amateur and professional football teams such as FC Schalke 04, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Rapid Vienna, the German Football Association (DFB) and the Slovenian national team. The 11Teamsports Group includes brands such as Top4Running and WePlay.
