At Golfclub Wouwse Plantage in Bergen op Zoom, a grenade was exploded this afternoon. It is suspected that it is a grenade from the Second World War, a spokesperson for the municipality of Bergen op Zoom reports.
The grenade on the Zoomvlietweg was discovered during work. The Explosives Clearance Service (EOD) was brought in, it established that the bomb was unstable and could not be transported. That is why they decided to explode the grenade on the spot.
Nothing had to be evacuated in the area. The bomb was on the territory of the municipality of Bergen op Zoom but was on the border with Roosendaal. That is why the municipality of Roosendaal has also been informed.
