A mobile home completely burned out last night at the De Brug campsite in Herpen. The fire at the campsite on St. Sebastianusstraat was noticed around a quarter past eleven and reported to the fire brigade.
The fire brigade responded with a fire extinguisher and a water truck, but upon arrival the caravan was already completely on fire. The caravan turned out to be beyond saving. There were fears of gas bottles in the caravan, so the fire brigade proceeded very carefully. Firefighters fought the fire lying on the ground and from behind other holiday homes.
As far as we know, no one was injured in the fire. A red jerry can was found near the caravan. The police took it away for trace evidence. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police. A police manager confirmed last night that they are considering arson.
