Germany’s long-distance runners impressed at the 10,000 m European Cup in France and in some cases broke the norm for the home European Championship.

On Saturday evening, the German champion Alina Reh took second place behind the former Turkish European champion Yasemin Can (31:20.18 minutes), in 31:39.86 minutes she ran a personal best of the season.

Reh had already achieved the norm for the European Championships in Munich (32:20), but marathon specialist Katharina Steinruck undercut her for the first time: In 32:03.88 minutes she ran a personal best in third place. Eva Dieterich (32:25.70) also set her own record, coming in tenth.

In the men’s category, Filimon Abraham was the best German in seventh place, he ran a personal best in 28:03.39 and quite clearly broke the European Championship norm (28:15).

Nils Voigt, last year’s German champion, came back from injury problems in ninth place and also achieved the decisive mark in 28:04.81 minutes.

The German champion Simon Boch already had the norm in his pocket, on Saturday he finished 24th in a time of 28:39.29 minutes.
