1. FC Nürnberg was unable to win six league games in a row. But the negative trend should come to an end on Saturday. A trick helped.
1. FC Nuremberg can still win. In the top game of the second division, coach Miroslav Klose’s team beat Kellerkind Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0. The decisive goal came shortly after the break. Julian Justvan quickly took a Nuremberg free kick from the half field, lifted the ball over the wall to the sprinting Stefanos Tzimas, who hammered the ball into the net (48th minute).
As a result, Braunschweig rarely posed any danger, and from the 59th minute onwards they were outnumbered because Christian Conteh was shown a yellow-red card. In the final phase, Nuremberg missed several good chances. So it remained 1-0.
The Franconians initially climbed to eleventh place in the table and moved past Hertha BSC. But the Berliners can still take back the place with a win in Hanover on Sunday.
Eintracht Braunschweig, on the other hand, will definitely be the penultimate team to celebrate Christmas. With only 13 points after 17 games, the pressure on coach Daniel Scherning is growing.
